Below we have three bits of news for you! 1) our PLACES collaboration, 2) our Chapter mini-conference, and 3) our call for presentations at our mini-conference!
1) This year again, the SAH MDR Pacific Northwest Chapter has partnered with the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation for their annual conference, PLACES, this year in Walla Walla, Washington. (Use “SAHMDR” as a promo code when you register for 25% off full PLACES conference registration).
2) As we did last year, we are setting up a Friday through Sunday SAH MDR mini-conference experience following on the heels of the PLACES conference -- both in Walla Walla.
Our own Kristi Rux has been creating a spectacular architectural pub-crawl for Friday night, October 18th, to be followed on Saturday with snacks and presentations (see #3 below!) and a tour, as we did last year, and finally, on Sunday morning with a gathering of Chapter energy as Jenny Wilder walks us through another productive brainstorming session. SAH MDR-specific tours are to be announced! Renew your membership and register for the mini-conference today!
3) Call for presentations! Please submit a short proposal by September 6, 2024
Call For Proposals to present at the 2024 SAH MDR Annual Conference in Walla Walla, Washington! Join us in Walla Walla to learn more about local and regional architectural history.
Share your research and engage with peers by presenting in one of our two session formats:
Pecha Kucha Session: This rapid fire six-and-a-half minute format is the perfect way to share your curiosities, your side research, or the professional project that shifted your thinking on critical histories, advocacy, and the preservation of Pacific Northwest built environments.
Paper Session: Present your latest research papers on a wide range of thinking on critical histories, advocacy, and the preservation of Pacific Northwest built environments. This session offers a forum to showcase your work and contribute to the ongoing discourse in architectural history and preservation.
As part of the mini-conference, these will take place alongside the annual report on the Elisabeth Walton Potter Award, on Saturday, October 19, 10:00am-2:00pm SAH MDR Mini-Conference, Penrose Library, Whitman College 345 Boyer Ave, Walla Walla, WA.
